Here is my evaluation for the shot by shot remake including what we have done well and what we could potentially reflect upon when planning, filming and editing our actual music video.

Overall, this task was useful in helping me improve my photoshop skills. In order for me to excel at the ancillary tasks I will need a good understanding of the format, typography and layout. This has increased my knowledge of basic graphic design.

Jealous- Labyrinth Remake

This is a preliminary task where we made a remake of Jealous by Labyrinth.

Recreating a poster using Photoshop

I recreated the poster for Jessie J. The poster on the left is the original poster, and the version on the right is the poster I recreated on Photoshop. The font is different as it was not available on Photoshop. As a less experienced user using Photoshop I was not aware of the key features and tools, and therefore had to watch a few tutorial videos in advance to ensure I knew what each feature did. However, completing this task had given me a better understanding of how to use Photoshop which will be beneficial when creating my ancillary products.

Remake of Distorture's Digipak

As I wanted to look further into what is placed on a digipak, I decided to create a remake on Photoshop. Unfortunately, the image was slightly distorted so I was unable to understand what the copy was. As a result, I made the copy up.

I also evaluated my digipak so I know how to improve if I was to do the task again.

Remake of Ed Sheeran's Album Poster

To enhance my Photoshop skills, I created a remake of a poster for an album. This allowed me to explore a wide range of techniques such as using white wash (and balancing colours and opacity).

Here is the poster that I attempted to remake:

Looking for specific fonts and symbols will allow me to practice what will be expected during the ancillary task in the duration of this coursework.

Jealous Remake: Narrative & Evaluation

 (INSERT NARRATIVE)

Created using Visme. Free Online Presentation Software.

Music Video Remake: Narrative & Performance

As a class, we developed a shot by shot remake of the song "Jealous" by Labyrinth. I then converted this into a narrative with performance music video with elements of the shot by shot developed before. Due to copyright issues, the audio had to be slightly altered.

Shot by Shot Remake and Analysis

Developing a shot by shot remake allowed me to understand how important it is to be precise in a music video. Unfortunately, because of SME content on the shot by shot video, it has been blocked. However, in the analysis, snippets of the shot by shot have been included.

Analysing my remake allowed me to understand where I went wrong in order for me to improve when it comes to our actual music video.

Initial Research: Ancillary

In order to have a better understanding of what to expect, I conducted some independent research on the different ancillary products.

This research will be helpful as it can allow me to make choices beforehand.

THIS extract from a book has also allowed me to think of the branding of our star persona, which we will be doing at a later stage.

Initial Research: Music Videos

Initial Research for music videos helped me to understand the different types of music videos there are (narrative, performance, concept) and how they could be integrated to create an overall product. This research will help me to consider ways to better our music video once we have created it.

This video also allowed me to think of ways to make a unique music video:

Initial Music Video Analysis

In order to practice different elements of MECS in a music video, I analysed a music video which had a range of elements incorporated to get a better idea of what music videos consist of.
